Russia has not been following the “rules based” world order. They were too independent - including, for example, their intervention in Syria, on the side of the Assad government.

So, yeah, the plan is regime change in Russia - and her “weakening” - a la Zbig Brzezinski’s lines - so it would never again come back as a big power. The new regime in Russia would have to preside over the countries’s “decolonization” - meaning, her splitting up into several smaller countries.

I think none of those things will happen. It’s all pure fantasy. The U.S. and the West will have to rethink those plans - or, we’ll be heading for a huge confrontation, for sure.

Most Russians understand this - which is why they support what the government is doing. If Putin did get criticized - it happened because he insisted on conducting a “minimalist” war, using limited force - and avoiding causing too much damage. It appears, that strategy backfired - winning the war fast would have cost fewer lives - AND less damage.
