Wharfie, Some of those SUVs and trucks are now electric Tell me which trucks are being sold these days that are 100% electric.
I can tell you that, for example, there are just around 2,000 F-150 Lightnings being sold every month, compared to 30,000 regular F-150 trucks.
You can say, "But but Tenchu it's a start," but like I said before, it's been 12 years since Detroit was bailed out.
The only reason why they're going electric is because Tesla showed them the way, NOT because anyone in Washington or Sacramento "mandated" it.
Now we actually have a plan to reduce our dependence on oil, period. No we don't. Just a bunch of "mandates" along with more charging stations in remote areas.
Where's the plan for vastly increasing our electric generation capacity? Can't charge a 98 kWh truck battery if you can't even power the average home in California with more than 30 kWh per day.
Where's the plan for recycling LiIon batteries, or disposing them? How about solar panels, whose disposal is becoming a big concern here in California?
I don't see any plans for replacing big tractor-trailers with all-electric (or all hydrogen) replacements. Half the vehicles on I-5 are all big rigs, you know.
Heck, we can't even build a high-speed rail line before 2035, so how the F are we going to transition everyone to EVs?
The only "plan" you libtards have is wishful thinking.
