Hebron mayor elicits outrage after offering $5 for anyone who kills a stray dog
Tayseer Abu Sneineh’s comments lead to unconfirmed scenes of ostensible violence against canines on social media; he later says he wasn’t being serious

Following his comments, some videos and photos shared on social media purported to show locals in Hebron rounding up stray dogs and killing or abusing them. However, at least some of the footage appeared to be fake or old and unrelated to the mayor’s offer.

He copied Lebanon's attempt to curb wild boars by allowing hunting. Feral dog bounty hunting has been proposed in US cities, such as Memphis, where there's no animal control. California recently passed a bill to allow unlimited feral pig hunting. Haifa, Israel has been in the news for out-of-control wild boar population since they banned hunts.

There is killing and abusing of stray dogs without the need to put out a bounty, especially in an area with more than a third of the population living in poverty. Suspect that is what is what's being recorded for the most part.
