U.S. privately asks Ukraine to show Russia it's open to talks, Washington Post reports

washingtonpost.com

Headline in many news stories in the US are often contradicted by actual information contained within.

"The newspaper cited unnamed sources as saying that the request by American officials was not aimed at pushing Ukraine to the negotiating table, but a calculated attempt to ensure that Kyiv maintains the support of other nations."

A State Department that proudly boasts of having made no diplomatic contacts with Russia since February is not a credible source for claiming credit for the above or for averting nuclear war through diplomacy.

From the outset of the war, State Department has tipped their goals for the war.

"The lack of willingness to allow Ukraine to negotiate with Russia predates these visits and was summarized in a March 10, 2022, article in the Washington Post where senior officials in U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration stated that the current U.S. strategy “is to ensure that the economic costs for Russia are severe and sustainable, as well as to continue supporting Ukraine militarily in its effort to inflict as many defeats on Russia as possible.”"
