A lot of people frown on cat owners who let their cats outside because they go out and kills birds and other wildlife. It is the same for feral dogs where people feed them and they're no longer scared of roaming urban and suburban streets. When they're hungry, they'll kill pets and backyard livestock. There was a neighbor two doors down who was feeding foxes, coyotes, and raccoons. I would find carcasses of dead animals on my deck and in the door screens where they trapped the squirrels.

The problem is a lot of dogs are dumped on the side of rural roads by people who get tired of them and don't get them spayed. There was a well-known spot in the next county where people were known to dump off dogs.
