New member fees will give you temporary respite from the need for cash, but if they're lifetime fees they don't continue. You can't expand that way forever

Spots, we appreciate the concern and have every confidence that if we ever ask for help that HELP will be there. More than a few people might even cosign the lease on my apartment :)

The lifetime fee is in place so we can (1) retain members long-term and (2) not charge the people who create the site.

Collectively, there are billions of dollars worth of assets that log into SI every day, and billions more that lurk on the outside. From our vantage point, there is no end in sight to the growth. If we can't keep the company afloat...we'll mostly feel pretty dumb. But I promise we'll ask for help!
