BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 11, 1998--B.A.T. International (OTC:BAAT - news) succeeded again in achieving very high fuel efficiency in a field trial of a Geo Metro four-door sedan equipped with a 1.5-liter Yanmar diesel engine modified with B.A.T.'s proprietary Dolphin Pulse Charge technology.
Three field trial segments of 50 miles each were run at a constant speed of 40 miles per hour on a two-mile oval track at California Speedway in Fontana, Calif. The individual test results were 91.5, 94.5 and 95 miles per gallon.
B.A.T. International's president, Joseph LaStella stated: ''We are extremely happy with the field tests today because it confirms we can get further improvements in fuel efficiency in two independently certified sets of tests. We are very excited about moving forward with further certification and discussions on technology licensing.''

L.A. TIMES:
Burbank-based BAT International Inc. said its diesel-powered Geo Metro averaged 93.1 miles per gallon in two 50-mile runs using BAT's secret engine technology. But President Joseph LaStella said the test was a failure, since he was hoping to break 100 mpg. BAT hopes to license the technology to auto makers, but so far they have been unimpressed. Investors have bid up BAT stock more than eighteenfold this year. But shares fell 20 cents to close at $1.46 on Tuesday on the Nasdaq bulletin board.

Two entirely different write ups, with differing facts.
