Silver is for electricity, the best conductor. At rf frequencies, i.e internet and mobiles, the "skin effect" comes into play. Silver is better than copper in that respect. Flip open any mobile and you will see the silver plated conductors for the rf paths.

Central banks stack gold. Normal folks cannot verify gold with an Xray florescence machine though, as it's unaffordable.

Ya think a price ratio of 75:1 is fair for silver? Isac Newton determined that the ratio of gold to silver in the Earth's crust is 16:1, not far off by modern analysis, and I think that is fair value.

Gold plated copper is used for electric conductors too, mainly for corrosion resistance and oxidation from sparking. It's not a good a conductor as copper though.

Silver is nice stuff. Medical applications too, and jewellery. A handy little store of wealth imho. Great for farmers offspring and normal folk. There are lots of normal folk, as opposed to the elite few.
