I read the first linked "What is a healthcare REIT" and it doesn't answer the key question - do healthcare reits own buildings and rent them to service operators, or .... do they actually operate the facility and provide the health care services? Healthcare REITs own a variety of healthcare facilities including medical office buildings, senior’s housing, skilled nursing facilities and hospitals. Ok. Who operates the hospital, the reit or the reit's tenant?
