MPW. I owned this pre-covid and looked at it again. I'll pass, for various reasons. Hospitals are too murky and for me. MPW's Steward investment seems shaky and even shady (below). MPW says that Steward (their largest investment) may be cash flow positive with recent cost cutting. They are not sure? Seward is not a large issue, but it is a bothersome nit.

MPW's debt is too high. There is no FFO growth expected (clip). Yes, I nice div yield, but expect little price appreciation and there is a bit of risk. Better fishing elsewhere.

Steward Health Care System and several related corporate entities have agreed to pay approximately $4.735 million to resolve allegations that its relationships with several physicians and physician practice groups violated federal law, including the False Claims Act. ...in the signed settlement agreement, Steward “admits, acknowledges, and accepts responsibility” for the facts underlying the government’s allegations.

The report showed that most health systems in Massachusetts was profitable, but singled out Steward as the health system with the lowest margin as well as the owner of the hospital with the worst margins. The system experienced a loss of about $270 million in 2018 and $322 million in 2017.
