This is just a short list of BBT's past partnerships/ agreements/ contracts, etc.:

BBT's partnership with Bosch demonstrates the strategy and commitment of both companies to offer a range of end-to-end access network solutions for public telecom and CATV networks globally.

Lucent- Our integrated platform, the Switched Digital Broadband Access System is the result of our three year partnership. It's designed to help our North American customers take the lead in providing information and communications services to consumers.

Samsung- Our 1996 supply agreement with Samsung was a giant step forward in our commitment to provide switched digital broadband networks to FTTC, the international marketplace. They have also designed a digital set-top to interface with our FLX System.

SAT (Groupe SAGEM)- First in France and now in Australia, this partnership gives our customers the means to deploy a proven system to deliver a complete range of switched digital broadband services.

Advanced Telecommunications Modules Limited (ATM Ltd/Inc)- This partnership enables us to empower a large number of legacy PC users with a best-in-class Ethernet data solution.

Thomson Consumer Electronics
In 1995, our partnership resulted in a breakthrough which significantly reduced the cost of open standard, digital set-tops.

INTEL AND BROADBAND TECHNOLOGIES TO JOIN EFFORTS TO ENABLE HIGH-SPEED INTERNET ACCESS OVER FUTURE TELEPHONE NETWORKS.Efforts Will Address Internet Bandwidth Bottleneck; Provide New Capabilities and Faster Access Speeds for World Wide Web Surfing.

---------------------------
As far as I'm concerned they are 0 for 7 with these alliances. None of these deals have generated $1 of profit. I do not see any promise with their 3 new initiatives either. Here's my take:

Initiative number one focuses on BBT performing OEM manufacturing for Lucent. BBT doesn't even have a manufacturing facility. They essentially have 10,000 square feet of systems test space. They do not do any PCB assembly.

Initiative number two states that they are seeking a strategic alliance to evolve the FLX-2500 platform to meet the emerging Full Service Access Network (FSAN) standard. This product went into development over three years ago. Big deal they a seeking a partner to market a three year old product with no sales.

Initiative three states they are going to develop other new products. All companies have a new product pipeline, although other companies eventually sell their new products for a profit.

-----------------

You state BBT is in it for the long-term solution. They've been at it for 10 years. What is your horizon?
