The lazy assessor here wanted to force people to self-report all real estate transactions or they would be fined in daily incremental amounts. The city assembly allowed that to happen. A ballot measure just overturned that, but a lot of people voted to keep it in place. Really amazing that people would think that was okay.

This incremental government intrusion into transactions is insidious. You know they can access all the credit card charges and grocery store membership databases. Anything that goes into the computer is available to somebody.

I think FTX was designed to fail in order to make this push. People will scream about accountability for the lost money. If they put the blame on the politicians, the politicians will turn it right around on them. A twofer. They get an excuse to increase monitoring and they get to keep their political donations and/or laundered money.

Very telling that the EU Parliament building was designed after the Tower of Babel. Literally, it was.
