I would love nothing more than to see a third party turn the GOP into the political equivalent of a Sears store, a decayed relic of something that once mattered.
Excellent article - light, nicely written and not at all pompous.

One disagreement - the way the American system works, splitting the GOP would simply hand the Left what they always wanted - a monopoly on power. The fight should be for having as much influence as possible - inside the GOP.

If, as he thinks, there is a strong enough movement in the nation to form a viable new party - that movement should be strong enough to reform the old one.
