I understand your frustration and my advice is to upgrade your system to NT if you can. There are some games that won't work well under NT but then you could set up a dual boot system. I had a crash today and NT allowed me to end the task of the offending app. In this case it was caused by my kid setting the display to true 32bit color then when I accessed a site with Java, I crashed, using Communicator. NT, at least for me feels more like OS/2 4.0 in terms of stability but OS/2 won't run my CAD applications so NT is the next best thing.
