Will Brazil's election be canceled due to fraud?
More than 3 million protest against electoral fraud on Brazil's national day

On yesterday's Republic Day, millions of citizens took to the streets in Brazil to protest against electoral fraud. The Liberal Party published its report on electoral fraud and wants the election to be annulled. Bolsonaro could contest the election before the Supreme Electoral Court.

Since the election on October 30th. in Brazil, millions of Brazilians are protesting on the streets against the alleged electoral fraud by the previously convicted fraudster Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Nobody takes to the streets for Lula, who supposedly won the majority.

Yesterday, when the republic was proclaimed, millions took to the streets again, especially in Rio de Janeiro and the capital Brasilía, but also in smaller towns across the country. Mainstream media such as O Globo remain silent about the protests, fueling even more anger and disappointment among the populace.

"I'm not a protest expert, but I think these are perhaps the biggest protests that have ever happened in the world," Brazil expert Fernando Teles told Freie Welt. 'People are very angry. That doesn't correspond at all to the Brazilian temperament, which is otherwise rather laissez-faire

According to Teles, 1 million people demonstrated yesterday in Brasilía , although the capital is very difficult to reach and people often had to travel several days to get there. In Rio de Janeiro , hundreds of thousands protested in front of the old Ministry of Defense, demanding military intervention to prevent the communists from taking power.

Demonstrators complained that at least 100 of the electronic ballot boxes did not contain a single vote for Bolsonaro. 5 million votes were invalidated. Allegedly, Lula won 50.9% of the vote and Bolsonaro 49.1%.

Defense Minister Paulo Sergio Nogueira de Oliveira last week sent his report on possible voter fraud to the left-wing Supreme Electoral Court (TSE), made up of Lula supporters. The report spoke of "relevant security risks": "It is not possible to say that the electronic voting system is free from the influence of malware that could limit its function," says the report. The TSE will likely ignore the report.

Now President Bolsonaro 's Liberal Party has also submitted its report on possible electoral fraud . After that, the PL will request an annulment of the election because "it is not possible to validate the results in all electronic voting machines."

Only a party involved in the election can contest the result. "The electoral court will probably refuse," said Fernando Teles. “Then the President-in-Office can order a court-martial to decide. Then the military will probably have to take to the streets. Under the Law and Order Act (GLO), the President can order it.”

According to Teles, it is important for Bolsonaro and the military leadership to comply with the democratic rules of the game. The demonstrators are already demanding military intervention, shouting »Forças armadas, salvam nossa pátria!«

"Lula supporters don't take to the streets," Teles said. Where are they all?'
