Hiya Joe:

As a long-time NOVL sufferer (in at 13.5), I stop by every few months to complain about the blatant lack of marketing. Here's a tidbit from the trenches. NOVL seems to be setting up field offices (a couple of youngsters working out of their houses; one salesperson, one techie) in the smaller markets. Resellers have been sent notices. In addition to revamping sales quotas, NOVL will require Gold and Platimum resellers to meet with their local reps once per month to share a "monthly success story." The screws are being tightened on the resellers. Hmmmm, not exactly the marketing push I had envisioned. I've got a feeling this strategy will only make it easier to resell NT. Anyone have more details or comments on this new impetus? This looks suspiciously like the siphon-the-swamp-dry hardware model used by Compaq, HP, et.al. whereby there exist a few huge VAR's in each market at the expense of the smaller consultants and VAR's. It is my opinion that this program did more for Dell and Gateway than anyone gives it credit for. Could NOVL be considering the same path, to MSFT's benefit?

Regards,

AJ
