I thought I would follow-up the comparison of what happened in November 96 when AMAT made their quarterly announcement with what happened this time. Since the announcement was made after the market close yesterday, a great deal of speculation was taking place about what would happen to the market today. A sampling of the opinions showed a wide disparity in what was going to happen today. As the table shows below, not much happened. Instead of the 37 stocks going up 12 percent and FSII going up 21 percent, the 37 stocks went up 2 percent and FSII hardly moved. AMAT essentially didn't move from yesterday.
