It’s true that for most voters all those investigations are simply not as important as they are to political junkies.

People want govt to improve their lives, and for most people that means access to things like affordable health care, jobs and lower housing, food and energy prices. Covering the cost of necessities for millions of Americans via entitlements has been baked into the cake by both parties, so people have their expectations.

These are important issues we're dealing with, and other than during Trump's term, WDC seems to have forgotten about other things like controlling crime, making sure the economy is healthy, and that a fair and just judicial system remains intact, so our Rights are protected.

Also, for reasons that have not been fully explained to me, democrats ignore the aspects of our republic that matter to millions of Americans.......particularly conservatives.......... and it appears they have adopted that stance as a permanent part of their mission.

IMO at this stage, and if we stand a chance of ever winning a presidential election again, we need to fight fire with fire. Our friends disagree and are convinced if republicans just "do the people's business" (what ever that means? It was hard to get to the nub of it in the middle of what turned into a lunch rush at a restaurant), we'll win elections hands down.

IMO we can start by registering every unregistered person we find, and then, at election time, where it is legal to do so, harvest ballots from those who just can't or won't find the time to vote. I always appreciate a candidate who can clearly and calmly explain the stark differences between the parties, but candidates like that are few and far between. I do believe if such a person can be found, it would make a huge difference to many people.

One more point before I end this rant. For some reason, republicans leaders, who become aware of illegalities committed during voting periods, resist using their power to prosecute. I am not a conspiracy theorist, but it seems they either don't want to muddy the waters, they're bought off because they really don't have an ideological affiliation, or they're really not republicans at all but just said they were to get elected.

Over time, I've learned my perspective of fighting fire with fire isn't widely shared by many people inside the republican base.
