I have always thought of the Democrats as being hawks - notwithstanding the George McGovern dovish wing of the Party, which never really got off the ground. Lyndon Johnson was a Hawk and so was Kennedy. Obama and Biden were also Hawks. Carter was perhaps the only exception, but he came right after the Vietnam war and he turned a bit hawkish at the end of his Presidency. As for Trump, clearly he identified with authoritarian leaders like Putin and Kim ( North Korean dictator). Yes, Trump kept US soldiers out of harms way. But so has Biden. No?
