Hi Ignacio, actually on the Flag burning issue, I don't think it's such a big deal as people make it out to be. I'm not quite sure why you said that.
I realize we will never come to any sort of terms on this issue. But I have read numerous reports which call into question the science of Global Warming. I posted quite a few of those studies many months ago at feelings. I understand for you it's a black and white issue. For me it is not. I believe allot more study needs to be done before we should allocate 7 billion dollars towards it. There are simply many more pressing real problems to deal with.
I asked the question about diversity because I honestly don't know how you can tell a forest is diverse. Or that it should be diverse to begin with. We as a society, tend to throw around terms such as this allot, and I don't believe I'm alone when I ask "what does it really mean"?
Let me ask another dumb question. Many environmental people such as yourself will admit that we have more tree's in North America today than 100 years ago. Yet you may be disturbed that the forest is not diverse enough. Can you give me a rough estimate of how much of the reclaimed forests is considered diverse, vs what is considered not diverse? Just a rough number would do.
About the gorilla and red wood issue. I wouldn't want to see gorilla's killed or Red woods knocked down either. I simply believe people, especially teenager runaway children, are a hell of a lot more important. And I think we spend way, way, way to much money and resources trying to save gorilla's and redwoods, than we do teenage runaway children.
Bye the way, I think most people feel this way too.
It's just that when they try and express it, they are depicted as people who hate the environment or something.
