China was a reason I was afraid to invest in Apple, even though overall it's a solid company... cost me some money but I slept better.

It is interesting. As for Apple in China, I was against detante from the start, but I assumed that over time their workers would want more than $.08 an hour, gradually demanding more until it was no longer profitable for manufacturers to relocate there. It did happen. That's a good thing. Now it's going slowly worldwide as manufactures look for more cheap labor elsewhere.

However one thing I didn't take into account was how cheap and efficient container shipping would become. Basically it destroyed inflation in the US... but it's now becoming more expensive as diesel gets expensive, doesn't look like that will change long term. So more manufactures are setting up shop here.

Another reason to not get sleep from Apple investments is TSMC. A Chinese blockade or even invasion of Taiwan is not out of the question IMO. That would obliterate stock markets but particularly Apple as it almost completely depends on TSMC (I believe.) Intel is building plants to compete with TSMC in the US I think, but that takes a fair amount of time. Then getting the tech right takes another dollop of time, IF they can do it well enough to compete with TSMC. So far no one can.

Apple will probably be OK... probably... but they aren't invulnerable.
