Doren,

I'd be worried about covid in China too. Chinese vaxxes aren't nearly as effective as say Pfizers, less people are vaccinated. Old people in particular haven't been boosted. Since lock downs there are more extreme, fewer unvaxxed have immunity from having had it. Cases are rising very fast.

It's threatening to get way out of control there. One would assume flu and RSV cases are rising fast too.

Covid stats China

To me, it looks like they are still doing ok. Their vaccine may not have been as effective but they are 90% vaccinated according to the stats you linked to. No deaths reported. Now that all depends on if you believe the data coming from there.

All that aside, we will have to see how Apple and China handle this situation. There was a good 4-5 minutes with Gene Muenster that is on the ped30 site

ped30.com

He gave a statistic that was interesting to me. He said that in 2020, over 60% of Apple's production came from China. In 2021, there were 180 new suppliers that were not China related and about 50% of production came from China. I am not sure if he means iPhones or all of Apple's production or something else. It would be interesting to get a little more clarity but Apple does seem to be moving away from China. These supplier reports take about a year to get so we should know about 2022 later next year. Apple is moving away from being so dependent on China. We will need to see how far and how fast this whole thing goes.
