So you are running a very clean 5.0L on flat ground straight line. You probably have the stock T-5 Manual transmaission with the 2.73 rear end gears. Your engine has more torque to keep it going at a low RPM then this thing has. At 60MPH your engine is running 1,500ish RPM, and the torque is enough to efficently turn the tires given their respective leverage on the gearing back to the flywheel. But we don't know what the horsepower and torque curves look like for the BAT power plant.

This test was done on a circle track. The drag of turning will effect the mileage negatively. And probably more than we think it might.

My Cobra with a 5.0L gets 21MPH (in hilly California coast area, with an occassional heavy foot), is a smog California car, so it is totally green and puts out 350MPH without a blower. Running through 3.55 rear gears. On the race track it gets 11MPH when pushed really hard. The vintage GT350 guys hate me, because I run premimum gas and kick their butts without $5 per gallon race gas. And they get 4 MPG out of their vintage '65 on up iron.

My point is that technology and design is improving everyday. In 1966 a Shelby GT350 maybe got 12MPG and who cared. In 1991, a stock 5.0L can get 31MPG (in the flat lands), and with a variable fuel pressure regulator can deliver more dialable horsepower. An in 2001, BAAT could be the next Cisco of the auto industry, or a failure. Ascend Communications was originally offered at about 17 cents post splits. It trades, at an under valued, $33 and change today.

I'd say let's wait for the reports, and activities to catch-up with the market. It will tell us soon enough if we are heros or goats for believing in this one.
