KDK, CAPT, CEE
It had been a while since we'd heard from Kodiak Copper, aka KDK, who are exploring their MPD property in BC's Quesnel trough for porphyries. So far they have outlined several such deposits of the copper with a gold kicker variety, but today we hear about the discovery of a new style of mineralization, in a zone dubbed Beyer that is part of a 2200m by 750m gold in soil anomaly. So far they have dug two trenches at Beyer, yielding 3.02 g/t Au and 24.18 g/t Ag over 12m including 5.29 g/t Au and 27.70 g/t Ag over 2m inone trench, and 9.11 g/t Au and 24.00 g/t Ag over 2m, with a parallel zone 8m west assaying 2.60 g/t Au and 10.10 g/t Ag over 2m in the other.
The Beyer zone will be further explored next year, including drilling, and if results continue along these lines it will make a significant addition to the value of the property over and above the already defined copper/gold porphyries, which remain the main focus of exploration.

My main concern with the silver ore Capitan Mining aka CAPT has been finding on their Cruz de Plata property in Durango Mexico has been that though they are assaying some high grade silver, would they find enough to make a viable mine. Today CAPT took a major step towards assuaging that concern by announcing they had bought from Fresnillo an adjoining property containing the continuation of the mineralization. They paid a pretty price -- $1M plus an NSR -- but they are getting a property that gives them control of over 2.5 km of the high grade Ag trend, and it comes with historical data including drill results.
CAPT is now finishing up their current drill programme on the already-owned portion of the property, assays pending, and with money in the bank thanks to a recently closed PP they will soon begin another that includes the newly acquired land.

The investment firm Van Eck has been busy buying up millions of shares of Centamin aka CEE and today we got notice that they are up to a 10% holding. Hmm, I have been contemplating buying more myself...

Saville on the weekend opined that gold and gold stocks are likely nearing short term peaks and will require consolidation of recent gains before making a move higher. Given the way gold is now trading maybe the peak was already set last week. |
