The cost of wars:

1. Blood. In the time from the Vietnam to Afghanistan wars, our military figured out how to minimize US casualties. Firepower, and precision targeting, replaced infantry.

2. Money. Since Reagan, deficits don’t matter. There is no need to increase taxes to pay for a war. Just borrow more.

So, wars cost the American voter, no money and not much blood. That’s how the politicians get away with it.
