For Ukraine to admit defeat - or for the West to order Ukraine to admit defeat - something dramatic will have to happen. All nato countries are going through a curious experience - they’re told from every direction that Ukraine is winning - and yet, people sense that something different may be taking place.

Something like what you describe may happen.

A massive successful offense along the lines described by MacGregor could do it. Or, let’s say, an entrapment of a large contingent of volunteers from Western nations. If the Russians offer to let them go - on condition that the aid to Ukr would stop - the West may be inclined to accept it. It would be a way out.

It ain’t over until it’s over. Many things may happen. And - all of it because some dim witted paper pushers made a strategic decision to have Ukraine in nato - and a regime change in Moscow.
