To add my yen's worth: ZIP drives are very popular here in Japan. Iomega has a localized (Japanese language manuals etc.) version on the market, and Epson's and Sony's ZIP drives are equally visible in the shops. They all cost from 16,000 yen (=US$145) upwards, with ZIP disks about 1,800 yen (=US$16.50).
The Jaz drive is not as ubiquitous by far.
