I actually watched the entire run of Heartbeat on TV back in the day. It is uneven at times, depending on the quality of the rotating cast of actors, but always charming. The main drawback for me is the local comic villains, who seem more like pantomime figures than actual people.

And thanks for the heads-up on Three Pines. Inspector Gamache is a beloved figure in Canadian literature, so I will be interested to see how they handle him on TV. It is a little bizarre that they chose a non-Canadian actor for the lead, but I guess having someone of Molina's stature might help with international sales.
