Trying to destroy another countries economy only makes that country more autonomous, it achieves the exact opposite of the result sought.
It seems, this entire war is achieving the opposite. Russia isn’t weakening - and there are no signs for a regime change. To the contrary, they’re developing stronger ties with the Bricks and Asia than ever. Many nations that aren’t very friendly towards us are developing a broader system of support and connections - like China and Iran (the latter is a problem in the making - Netanyahu will not stand by as Iran is developing nukes).

When this is over, Europe will have her own resentments - they’ll doubt the war, feel hurt over higher energy costs - and nothing to show in return.
