Roughly speaking, 2 months each:

Mid-June to Mid-August rally.
Mid-August to Mid-Oct decline.
Mid-Oct to Mid-Dec rally.
Mid-Dec to ...

Do we break the pattern and continue the rally? Or are we completing the setup for another decline?

Flat seems to be the wise choice for traders. Traders trade, so you typically don't want to get whipsawed. Better to understand the direction first, then position your trades second.

Positioning long term investments should be viewed from FA and TA perspectives, as well as tax and other considerations.
