Masterpiece theater last night had a fascinating story of how the Norwegian Royal family escaped the Nazis. King and Prince took a desperate flight to England where their royal cousins welcomed the with open arms. The Prince's family took what they thought was the safer route first to Denmark, which fell, then to Sweden.

At the border the Swedes refused to let them in, knowing exactly who they were. So they drove through the gate and and kept going. The Princess was the Swedish King's niece. The King was pissed off. He though his brother had acted cowardly. He almost sent them all back to Norway. The producers pointedly contrasted the British Royals acceptance with the Swede King's rejection

Then out of nowhere Roosevelt offered to smuggle them out on an American ship full of American evacuees. They didn't play anymore episodes.
