KDK, MIRL

Kodiak Copper aka KDK released a wrap-up NR regarding the recently completed 2002 drill programme at its MPD copper/gold prospect in south central BC. Over the past few years they have defined several large copper/gold prophyries similar to those being mined not far away, but most recently they announced the discovery oN a large gold-in-soil anomaly called Beyer which yielded some high Au/Ag assays from initial trenching. These are more assays pending from the trenches, and Beyer will be followed up aggressively next year.

KDK discovered the Cu/AU porphries by following up copper-in-soil anomalies he Beyer discovery outlines that gold-in-soil anomalies are good indicator on MPD as well. In due course several other examples similar to Beyer will be investigated, and if they also pan out the gold will turn out to be an important addition to the porphyries.

Minera IRL aka MIRL, which was virtually silent for years, continues its recent charm offensive with another release concerning its producing Corihuarmi gold mine in Peru. We get the results of the last six holes on a recently completed drilling campaign, all of which had grades above the ore they have been producing from the last few years.

We also hear about the new drilling campaiGn underway at Corihuarmi . Bizarrely, they are calling it a 'long-hole', even though the average length they anticipate for the holes is very short, under 30m. This programme is aimed at increasing confidence in mineralization for future production.

But even here, questions abound. The local community recently blockaded the mine, and although media reports said that in order to get them lifted MIRL agreed to close the mine as early as next year, but of course MIRL themselves have told us nothing about this. Will they ever get to mine the new minerlzation they are defining? Who knows?
