That is always the problem, a 'glitch' may be in the system that hasn't 'reared its ugly head' at the time the 'backup' is made, and you wind up with a 'time bomb' which attacks at a later date.

What I would like to see is all of the 'changable' data stored in 'one' place, separate from the 'unchangable' data. (ie program applications, operating system unchangable files.) Under this scheme one could restore the 'unchangable' portion from a CD or another read only device, and then 'updated' with the changable files disk! I don't know if this would stop the problems, as the changable disk is still subject to corruption. I do back up the data file that I use for my personal business just prior to shutdown, after I have added the latest information. I use the SyQuest SyJet 1.5G removable disk system, which I like very much, although I am having trouble with some of the SyQuest Utilities (don't work for me) and am working with SyQuest on the problems!

Thanks for the reply!
