His momma had just driven him off, so he was on his own for the first time. Standing in snow up to his knees, stretching his neck up to strip bark from a birch tree. Not very nutritious, but nothing else was available. Temperature: 3 below zero. Every day, I am happy, I am not that yearling moose.
