It is winter up north. Taken with Nikon P1000 on auto, need to try some filters????
We have had a few good auroras, hope to get some good shots this year.
Looks like in a few more days this Polar Vortex will be pushing on out of here. And if you are interested, coldest temp all time in AK was - 80 F, 1971. If I recall coldest temp in North America is a few degrees colder, over in Yukon Territory. We're speaking ambient here, no wind chill. That is cold and those kind of lows are pretty rare. -40 F much more common.

Coldest ambient I have been out in is about - 60 F, darn cold, too cold to do much work in, tell you that much.

1/2 mile away as crow flies and 100 ft. lower in elevation it is - 40 F. We appreciate the inversions we get, we usually have them.

In two more days the bottom will be in. If you have never been in the far north, well this time of year at this location we get about 3.5 hrs sunlight. The sun slowly comes up, slides along horizon, then slowly sinks. Good dawn, dusk and twilight.
