Tonyt,
Why I'm bothering to do this is beyond me!
For a market maker to have a bid price posted for a stock is one thing, for someone to buy the stock at that price is another. Hell, if they wanted to they could post a bid of $1,000.00 a share for LGND, but does someone have to buy at that price? For you to understand this, call your broker and tell them you want to sell 1000 shares of LGND at $50.00 a share, then give it about 20 secs. and then have your broker to read from the NASDAQ quote system they are using and you will see your $50.00 asking price posted. They have to enter the order just in case some fool wants to buy at that price.
