Guggenheim Partners chief investment officer Scott Minerd has died. He was 63.

Mr. Minerd died suddenly on Wednesday after suffering a heart attack, the firm said in a statement.

Mr. Minerd was among Wall Street’s more visible personalities, making frequent appearances on television and maintaining an active presence on social media to discuss markets and investments.

"I have known Scott for over 30 years and we were partners much of that time," Mark Walter, Guggenheim's CEO, said in a statement. "Scott was a key innovator and thought leader who was instrumental in building Guggenheim Investments into the global business it is today. He will be greatly missed by all."

Mr. Minerd is survived by his husband, Eloy Mendez.
