Call it 'poetic license'.

If you think I am going to sit here and take whatever these 'pundits' dishes out,you got another thing coming. If that were to be true then I would have been a disciple of Tom Kurlak long time ago or at the very least a loyal customer of a Full Service Broker for that matter.

You are right in that they didn't say exactly that 'CPQ bought DEC to mask their cost-cutting problems' but the deal masking some devious accounting scheme was ever present.

There was another article in similar vein in Forbes magazine by one Mr.Om Malik (i think)about Intel. His contention was Intel came up with and extra 0.07 or so in earnings last quarter by resorting to some accounting tricks one of which,he alleged, was that Intel bought back some shares.Intel has been buying back shares for the last couple of years worth billions of dollars and to claim this exercise is some accounting trick is beyond me.If it is a trick I must say I like this trick,I wish more of them resort to such accounting tricks.

Now to come back to CPQ, the caption read:

Heard on the Street: Compaq Deal May Mask Problems in PC Business

If this is not sinister and malignant,I don't know what is and I ain't going to take it any more. <gg>

PS: You do get the feeling I don't like analysts, don't you?? By the way I don't subscribe to conspiracy theories, period.
