Hi Kirk,

We've been in Texas since last week Wednesday.

This morning it was -1 in Wisconsin and 17 degrees here.

My neighbor for 27 years passed last summer. Earlier this month his sweet wife moved to Austin to reside in an assisted living complex.

In between she has been selling off her excess furniture and her son and daughter have been taking that which is important to them.

Ken was a woodworker and had converted his 2.5 car garage into a complete woodworking shop. Wall to wall power tools and a sawdust collection system all encased with in cabinetry throughout the entire shop.Table saws, drill press, lathe, welding table, sanding stations. He and I were very close and had similar packrat tendencies.

I inherited his big table saw and attachments with dust collector vacuum, and his drill press (the two tools I never had). Every time I needed one of them, Ken would drop what he was doing and help me - Truly a wonderful long term friendship. Jan got two gazing balls and a bird bath (which this morning is a solid chunk of ice). They both were avid gardeners. Ken had tiered his entire back yard with different elevations. He had cream city brick walkways and Austin chalk mortared walls for the different elevations. Upkeep of it was a daily passion for them both.

The house is sold to a friend of a neighbor without the need for a realtor. Living on Lake Woodlands has a huge appeal. We get regular calls from realtors and a neighbor has made it known if/when we move, they want a shot at it before a realtor is involved.

I was up most of the night checking for frozen pipes and functioning furnaces with cabinets left open to prevent any freezing on both homes. Nothing they did not do for us many times while in Wisconsin.

It will be cold yet today and tonight and then warm up tomorrow.

Two years ago storm URI killed off all of our citrus trees - all eight of them.GRRR

We did not replant them, and two have come back out of the ground. One is the lower graft and one meyer improved lemon has blooms on it - now frozen for sure.

I have received the family's OK to cut and trim two trees that were planted on our lot line. The limbs have grown so much in the 27 years they now touch my roof and squirrels use it as a highway to my roof. So I brought one of my chainsaws. Need to get the trimming done before the new owner moves in mid January.

What they don't know won't hurt them.

Lots of 61.8 retrace touches yesterday and clx suggests the bottom is in.

Merry Christmas to you, your girlfriend ,and mother.

It's a wonderful time to enjoy the many things we are fortunate to have!

Bob
