I don't hold either ALTR or XLNX, but seems that the CEOs comments about very strong orders in September, end of the inventory correction, and yesterday's BTB surprise of 0.99 have all nicely reinforced the perception that the cycle has bottomed out and future quarters should be better. Also, the comments about orders being shipped the same month as they are received will make analysts start to think that there may be some revenue surprises on the upside as early as the 4th quarter (whereas previously the consensus view has been that nothing is really going to improve until 1997).
