Some relatives of mine in the southern U.S. have a fledgling BBQ business they have a page for on FB. They do not have a website for it and they have a Gmail address for communicating with people. There is also a lot of competition in that type of business where they live from companies that buy advertising on FB or pay to be shown.
While I can go directly to their businesses page on FB if given the link, I can't find it in FB's search unless I have the hard link to their page and go directly to that URL. Same is true when trying to add the business to one of my favorites on the left side bar, it never shows up in search.
Relatives local to me here in the Northwest have the same problem no matter what they use to connect to FB, and we have both Samsungs and iPhones in the family here.
So, one could argue the security setup for them isn't good for their business given they use all free tools, and due to not paying FB, FB's search algorithms keep it buried in their search results. As does Google since they don't pay for SEO ranking or purchase any advertising with them.
See if you can find "Goula Q BBQ" on FB, without the quotes, of course. :-)

Yep, sometimes using old equipment is better in that way. The bugs and exploits are better known, so it means they can be hacked more easily for one. However, the server separation and cookie databases are old and contain all that data in them too. I tried to delete cookies in Firefox recently on a relative's new iMac recently, and I found cookies that were 13 years old on it. That's a long time in the tech world, as we know. |
