Thanks for the Broadcom / Avago chart.

I never bought that stock because I was too close to it and too many friends were WFRed when after they went private the cut costs to have an IPO. I worked there while it was part of HP from 1978 to 1998. They still sell the first product I designed starting as a summer seed/intern and they still use some of my original text on the data sheet. I'm sure it has gone through many cost reductions (redesigned on cheaper processes) but the fact they still need its ability to talk to 20V systems tells me it is PROBABLY still being used in the Cruise Missile in this hermetic form.

These were my key specs... exactly
  • Wide Vcc Range (4.5 to 20 V)
  • 350 ns maximum propagation delay
  • CMR: > 10,000 V/µs typical
  • 1500 Vdc withstand test voltage
  • Compatible with LSTTL, TTL, and CMOS logic
  • Three stage output available
When I started design of the optical receiver... I used SPICE and plotted the output on paper with a text printer! I was able to input the design with a terminal which was a HUGE upgrade from Berkeley where we had to use punch cards to input designs. We eventually got the ability to plot waveforms with an HP printer and soon after onto a monochrome display! We've sure come a long way!

So... I'd have to sell something to raise cash to buy it and I don't feel like paying the tax on LRCX, AMAT or other large positions that are mostly all profits that have similar charts... but I still like the stock and company.

I could put it into my IRAs... but I've diversified into biotech instead.
