Afraid you’re right. But realistically, fwiw, the only Rep who has a chance of winning the WH in 2023, imo, is Donald Trump. If more people recognize this, perhaps Trump may get more support, even from Reps-on-the-fence.

Much will depend on Trump himself. Everyone knows that he was wronged - no news there. I think he needs to focus on the problems of the day - and on the future. Like, start talking right now about what needs to be done to keep us out of a nuclear war. There is very little public discourse on this single most important subject. All we hear is “mo money, mo guns” - and hope and pray,

He needs to make an effort to attract more members of the “elites” - people who he would need to man the federal bureaucracies and the great number of “programs” and what not. He does great with the regular people - but he must have enough bureaucrats and members of managerial classes in order to run the government effectively.

He needs to be able to legally hold people accountable for insubordination to the president - and for various forms of sabotage. He must be able to make it unsafe and painful… to yes yes yes him, while ignoring his orders. Of course, it would be even better if they came to his side willingly.
