He reached out here when he was alive to ask me to help him in late 2021 since his FB account had been hacked and taken over.
RW had used the same login and password on over 20 sites he told me here via PM, some banking ones and financial sites. I was shocked, of course, and I alluded to it on Computer Learning and my Apple Product Help thread he'd created himself, and wanted me to run later. I'm so grateful he did now.
After asking his permission to post about it, which he gave reluctantly, and I promised I would not mention him in any posts directly.
Now it seems the best thing I could do, to honor yet again and tell his full story.
I contacted a friend of mine in the high tech biz where I live and tried to get him help that way, since there isn't anyway to contact a human at Facebook now, not directly anwyay. It's all automated crap.
At the time, FB's Occulus support team for their VR goggles could help get back into a hacked account, but he refused multiple times to buy one at Target or anywhere else just to get back into his FB account. He had no desire to own them and felt it was dishonest to return the Occulus goggles for a refund used.
I was fearful myself he was the hacker at the time, since he and I were not friends on FB, though I could see his account there.
He finally told me he'd just move on and forget about it, so I had to let it go too.
Smart man and an honest one. I wish we were all that smart. We really need to be. :-) |
