I've been having a problem for over a month with Safari and a stock brokerage webpage on my 2011 Mac Mini. This computer has run without problems for over 11 years. I think the problem might be with the brokerage website, maybe a HTML coding error they made a while back, but thought I would check here first. Maybe my Mac is getting old and has become incompatible with some HTML used by the brokerage webpage.

What happens is I can log in to my brokerage account (via a web page running in a tab in Safari). But whenever a message box pops up from the website in response to something I did, there is a problem. The message box might be there to tell me I have several announcements I might want to read, I cannot exit from that message box. The box typically would have an "X" at the top to let me dismiss the box, or a "Continue" button at the bottom to let me look at additional announcements. Pressing the "X" or "Continue" does nothing, so the message box won't go away, and I'm stuck and cannot do anything. The Safari tab seems to be working but I cannot get rid of the message box. So I terminate the Safari tab that runs the brokerage and try again, or switch to my iPad running the brokerage app so I can do whatever I need to do, such as check my account or enter an order.

Quitting Safari and rebooting the computer does not help.

Any ideas? Next step is to call the brokerage.
