CES day 1 essentially a day for press. Tomorrow the working engineers and sales staff get to play. Looks like AMD pushing new CPU/GPU combinations in 3D stacks and FPGA - programmable hardware advances. FPGA (field programmable gate arrays) allow you turn software algorithms into hardware so you get faster completion times. Ultimately that is the direction of many Machine Learinng and Deep Learning applications. So far they are head of INTC in CPU/GPU but remember INTC bought Altera for their advanced FPGA. Altera was ahead of Xilinix which AMD bought. Not sure where the tipping point will be where INTC edges ahead of AMD for a while The problems of last few years really cost INTC. cnet.com
