Actually I took a few minutes to take a text and go through multiple iterations from English to German, the German back to English, then the new text back to German, new text back to English etc. The results are amusing.
Original Text: "I stopped in Salzburg, disembarked at the little downtown train station, and elected to stay in a lovely little hotel just down the down the hill from the fortress. It was a delightfully sunny day, brisk and cold. The icicles glistened on the trees. I watched the children run and throw snowballs at each other."
First iteration: "I stopped in Salzburg, retired at the little in the city centre series station which was situated, and selected, in order to remain in an attractive small hotel even down that downward the hill of the Fortress. It was lively and cold delightfully a sunny day. Those icicles glittered on the trees. I monitored the children to let and throw run snowballs on each other."
Not bad actually. Reminds me a little bit of Ulysses.
Fifth iteration: "I stopped the attractive small downward hotel in Salzburg, closed I at the little in the city centre series station, which was set up, and selected, in an even downward, around more rueber to remain more rueber this the hill of the Fortress. It was lively and cold weather delightfully a sunny day of this sparkled icicles on the trees. I monitored the children to the left and Throw let snowballs on each other to the left run." |
