Luxury taxes are way better than income taxes.

1) harder for the rich to escape
2) better for the environment - empty mansions in Palm Springs are wasteful, yachts are wasteful... 90,000 sq ft homes are wasteful - nobody buys a 500hp car to obey the law
3) encourages investment rather than waste good for the economy which should produce useful things for everyone
4) they don't hurt the middle class or poor or the rich

all of which is why they will never happen
