I have mentioned this before, I know where I have them stored though I am not entirely sure the original emails are what those emails now look like so I mention the only "lesson" that really stuck with me (it was "well that is different") from my mom - as I remember it. Aunt Marie was not there.

One day my brother and I went to the store on our bicycles. When we got back to the house mom gave me heck and said "No racing!" as I guess she saw us riding down the back alley from the kitchen window. I said "But mom we weren't racing, we were just riding fast." This made her really mad, I'm not sure what happened next but my punishment was to write 1000 times "I will not be deceitful to my mother." I asked what deceitful meant and received a terse "Look in the dictionary!". I couldn't go outside and play for most of the next week because I was working on those lines.

After about 7 or 800 she said I didn't have to do any more. I don't have many memories of mom.

---------

Dad had said to me "The center is yours", he didn't explain that and it was just something that resonated and stuck with me. I don't remember asking for an explanation of those sayings that resonated. That saying with mom's lesson has been significant for me when talking. Other phrases of dad's that resonated were "Respect the girls.", "Sweep them all away.", "Get a good sleep before a test." and "There are people that make things happen, people that watch things happen, and people that say 'What happened?'. I have mentioned that last one on the other thread before without it being a question, this is how he actually said it.

--------

I talked to somebody about a problem I was having. A year later his mom and I met and briefly chatted and in that conversation "Don't do anything rash." resonated with me. I admit I have not looked up 'rash' in the dictionary even though it sounds vague. I have started to use that phrase when my problem starts being an active problem.
