I agree. And the big war is indeed on the way. But it hasn’t escalated yet beyond the point of no return.

Resources are great - but if the cost of acquiring them is too high, those in power may decide to simply buy them. The West is the wealthiest society ever. It can afford it.

No Hegemony is forever. The world changes. War gaming a potential war over Taiwan shows that the only way not to lose is not to fight. Why? Because the technology is moving against surface navy, including carriers. People are openly arguing that in the age of powerful precision weapons, they may be becoming obsolete. Looks like the very advances in technology point towards difficulties in projecting power to faraway regions - and in favor of a multipolar world.

America always did fine without spreading herself too thin all over the world - and would do just fine again. We have enough of our own resources. Let others worry about themselves, They don’t worry about us too much.
